File Sharing


The fastest and most effective way of sharing files in a network is through the means of having a Central Filing System. There are several means of achieving it.

Diagram on the right shows how systems in a particular network store and share their files with other users.

To create a Central File System for sharing of files, it is important to know that a Server is required. As the word Server implied, a system that solely serves the rest of the systems in the network is required. There are several Server options available for companies of vary size.

Peer-to-Peer Central File System


Network with 8 or less users and have a tight budget can goes for a Peer-to-Peer Central File System. This design is cheap and robust enough for normal usage. However, it also lacks features like securities, functionalities and scalabilities. For new startups with limited budgets, this could be an option for them before moving to a Server Based Central File System.

Server Based Central File System
It is highly recommended to have Server Based Central File System in a network. A Server Based CFS could handle network traffic, serves more users and is more stable and scalable. Securities are normally built-in on these Servers. Unauthorized users are not allows to access to files and controls over them such as access privileges can be define.
